mineral-rich water filled with iron and sulfide, which combines and forms iron sulfide.
The iron sulfide tends to give these hydrothermal vents their name, "Black Smokers."
The water coming out of black smokers tend to be hotter than their counter-part, the

which gives it its white color. These white smokers are cooler than their counterparts,
